Admission for Diploma (GNM)
The Diploma in General Nursing (GNM) program, conducted under the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB), has a duration of 3 years. This course includes both classroom learning and practical training. Clinical facilities are provided to students at the parent hospital, Rajeev Hospital, where they receive hands-on experience under the guidance of qualified faculty in various clinical and community settings. The board exams are held annually.
- 10+2 with English: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 40% in the qualifying examination. English must have been passed from any recognized board.
- Candidates from the State Open School recognized by the State Government and from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government are also eligible.
- A background in Science is preferable.
- 10+2 with English: Candidates must have obtained 40% marks in the vocational ANM course from a school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
- 10+2 with English: Candidates must have obtained 40% marks in the Vocational Stream - Healthcare Science from a recognized CBSE board or Centre.
- Medical Fitness: Students must be medically fit for admission.
- Age Requirement:
- The minimum age for admission is 17 years (as of 31st December of the year of admission).
- The upper age limit is 35 years.
- There is no age limit for candidates applying for ANM or LHV courses.




Admission for Basic B.Sc Nursing
The Basic B.Sc Nursing program, offered under RGUHS, has a duration of four years. The course includes both classroom learning and practical training. Clinical experiences are provided to students under the guidance of qualified faculty in various clinical and community settings. The university exams are held every semester.
Minimum Age for Admission
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as of 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
- The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years.
Minimum Educational Qualification
- For Science Candidates:
Candidates who have passed the 12th Standard examination (10+2) with Science subjects and obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together, and have passed English individually, are eligible. - For Candidates from Open Schools:
Candidates from State Open Schools recognized by the State Government and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government, who have studied Science subjects and English, are also eligible. - English Requirement:
English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for eligibility for admission to the B.Sc Nursing program.
Additional Criteria
- Colour Blindness:
Colour blind candidates are eligible, provided they wear colour-corrective contact lenses or spectacles. - Medical Fitness:
The candidate must be medically fit. - Married Candidates:
Married candidates are also eligible for admission. - Admission Frequency:
Students shall be admitted once a year.

Admission for Post BasicB.Sc Nursing
The Post Basic B.Sc Nursing program, offered under RGUHS, has a duration of two years. The course includes both classroom learning and practical training. Clinical experiences are provided to students under the guidance of qualified faculty in various clinical and community settings. The university exams are held annually.
- Minimum Age: The minimum age for admission shall be 22 years as of 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
- Minimum Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have completed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with an aggregate of 45% marks from a recognized board. - Medical Fitness: The candidate must be medically fit.
- Admission Frequency: Students shall be admitted once a year.

Admission for MSc Nursing
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing) program is designed for in-service nursing practitioners and candidates who have completed a BSc Nursing or PBBSc Nursing course. This program aims to enhance their academic knowledge, training, skills, competency, and the standards required for professional nursing and midwifery practice at an advanced level.
Candidates must hold a degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing or PBBSc Nursing) and be registered nurses. Candidates who are above 48 years of age as of 31st December of the admission year are not eligible. The course duration is two academic years, starting from the date of commencement of the term as notified by the University. The medium of instruction and examination for the course is English.
The MSc Nursing program includes four departments:
- Medical-Surgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Paediatric Nursing
- Obstetrics and Gynaecological (OBG) Nursing
Each department has an annual intake of five students, with a total intake of 20 students per year.
